The first gin cocktail I ever drank?

A delectable Clover Club, this was in 99 in Aberdeen. I had my first cocktail there and soon after, I fell down the rabbit hole. The maestro behind the stick and the man who taught me how to tend bar - Mike McGinty - told me about a gentlemen's club in Philadelphia. Gin, lemon juice, raspberries, vermouth and egg white. Not exactly the type of drink that jumps to mind when thinking about a men's club.

First gin cocktail you ever made?

Martinez. The fabled precursor of the Martini. First made at home, while researching drinks, their origins and their decedents.

Favourite gin cocktail at 7pm?

Pegu Club - it's one of the definitive aperitifs, for me. A good hit of gin up front, the lime juice taking the edge off the sweetness of the curaçao and the bitters dry things out nicely. Simple, but when made well, it's an amazing jumping-off drink for an evening of fun!

Favourite gin cocktail at 10pm?

Winchester - the definitive gin, Tiki drink. Named for Angus Winchester - Tanqueray Global Ambassador. 3 Gins: Old Tom, Navy Strength and a bold London Dry. What's not to like?! I prefer to swap out the grenadine and ginger for a homemade Falernum because it just plain works! Delicious! Plus...everyone likes a tropical drink!

Favourite bar in the world?

Haven't been to them all, but one I always return to is 99 bar & kitchen - Aberdeen. It may change subtly over the years but it's always like coming home.
