The first gin cocktail I ever drank?

I had my first Tom Collins in Bangkok, Thailand. It was my first time travelling at 18 years young. There’s a place called Gullivers on the Koh San Road, the first stop for every wide eyed backpacker arriving in Thailand. It wasn’t the best I’ve had but it certainly did the job.

First gin cocktail you ever made?

A Martini made at Label, a Saturday night bar on Deansgate, Manchester. This was the first bar I tended and where my love of making cocktails began. I’m sure the glass was too big and my technique more Tom Cruise than tidy bartender but you’ve gotta start somewhere right?

Favourite gin cocktail at 7pm?

I was only introduced to the Worker bees knees this year whilst hosting the Gin Journey at Cottonopolis, NQ, Manchester. It has the right balance of some of my favourite flavours, honey, pepper and of course gin. And as a proud Mancunian it uses just the right Gin too – Manchester Gin, made in Chorlton.

Favourite gin cocktail at 10pm?

A Negroni. The perfect nightcap, although it will usually turn into three or four.

Favourite bar in the world?

Shady Pines, Sydney. I visited here around new year of 2014- Shady Pines has been my favourite bar due to its welcoming vibe, quirky decor and staff’s inspiring booze knowledge. Ask for any cocktail and they’ll make it and furthermore offer their twist on any cocktail you like.
